doctor recommendation

Nalini's post about a naturopathic doctor got me thinking. Charis and I have been interviewing pediatricians, and we met with Dr. Daniel Brousseau at his office in Pasadena. Brousseau's partner is Dr. Barker, a naturopath. I think Mom may welcome meeting with these doctors since they work closely together. While Barker is a naturopath, Brousseau is a DO (Doctor of Osteopathy), a traditionally-trained MD with additional schooling on osteopathic medicine. They list cancer as one of their interests on their website: http://www.paracelsusla.com/index2.html, although they practice all areas of medicine. Overall, we do think highly of Brousseau, even though we may not decide to use him as our pediatrician.

GREAT POST, ASHWIN! I spoke with Mom after her visit to the oncologist at the Angeles clinic. It was a deflating experience when the specialist said that she relied more heavily on her oncology training and less so on osteopathy and thus, would basically prescribe a vigorous chemotherapy program to combat a potentially aggressive type of tumor. Mom's been after me quite a few times today to check out the Paracelsus site. What joy it was to see a duo that seemed, on the one hand, to call a spade a spade and a quackery a quackery, but on the other to recognize chemo's debilitating effects on the individual. In the spirit of Martin Buber's "I and Thou", the patient is a living, breathing, thinking individual who just might value human dignity. Long-winded way of saying, thanks for posting this gem Ashwin, and this lead is being actively pursued expeditiously. I loved reading the testimonials in the pdf files.
